CANTOHELL is an ode to halcyon days of Hong Kong, of the sounds Fabsabs grew up with as a young kid roaming the streets. Traditional Cantonese opera was blasted alongside Cantopop, J-Pop, and English radio music. "People are nostalgic for the past, and preserving Hong Kong culture. Not surprisingly, there has been a surge in the underground music scene," says Dj Fabsabs.

Never has the noise, metal, rock, electronic, and experimental scene in Hong Kong been so strong, as musicians, artists, and the public struggle to understand the world falling around them – responding with anger, creativity, and some wonderful music.

Taking a classic performance of the Cantonese opera 帝女花之香夭 (Princess Changping: The fragrant death), about the fall of the Ming Dynasty and fated royal lovers, DJ Fabsabs blended this with a tapestry of sounds heard at underground raves in factory buildings, country parks, and on the depths of the internet. It is essentially a jumble of history, memory, emotion, and an ode to the independent musicians in Hong Kong who keep going in the face of adversity.
